About the Role

We are looking for a Database Architect based in the Philippines to join our growing US-based team. The ideal candidate will design, develop, and optimize complex database systems to support business operations, analytics, and application development. You will work closely with software engineers, data analysts, and system administrators to ensure database performance, scalability, and reliability in a remote setup.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement database architectures (both relational and non-relational) aligned with business goals and application requirements.
  • Develop and maintain data models, schemas, and stored procedures to optimize system performance.
  • Oversee database development, integration, and migration projects.
  • Implement and monitor database security, backup, and recovery strategies.
  • Optimize queries, indexes, and system configurations to ensure high availability and low latency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in the US and Philippines to define database standards and best practices.
  • Stay updated on emerging database technologies (cloud, distributed systems, data warehousing).
  • Support data governance and compliance efforts to maintain data integrity and privacy.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior developers or data engineers as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in database design, development, or administration.
  • Proven experience with SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle.
  • Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB) is an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, normalization, and indexing techniques.
  • Experience with cloud-based platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Knowledge of ETL pipelines, data warehousing, and business intelligence tools preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with US-based teams.
  • Willingness to work on US time zone schedules.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD pipelines for database deployment.
  • Experience in big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, Snowflake, etc.) is a plus.
  • Scripting experience in Python, Shell, or PowerShell.
  • Understanding of data security standards (HIPAA, GDPR, SOC 2).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to Php60,000.00 per month
