Virtual Medical Biller/Coder

Psychiatry Wellness Center is looking for a Virtual Mental Health Medical Coder/Biller/Collections Specialist. We are looking for a top performer with previous experience and knowledge of billing, reimbursement, and payment posting. The Medical coder is responsible for accurately and efficiently coding medical diagnoses and procedures for a psychiatry practice. This role ensures accurate billing and compliance with all applicable regulations, including HIPAA. The coder will work closely with physicians, therapists, and billing staff to optimize revenue cycle management. Qualifications:Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical coding, preferably in a psychiatry or mental health setting.Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.Proficiency in using EHR and medical billing software.Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent communication and interpersonal 1 skills.Knowledge of HIPAA rules and regulations.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with Charm EHR.Knowledge of common mental health medications.Experience with prior authorizations for mental health services.Responsibilities: Code Assignment:Assign accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes to patient diagnoses and procedures based on clinical documentation within electronic health record (EHR).Apply knowledge of psychiatric diagnoses and treatments to ensure appropriate code selection.Review and analyze physician/therapist notes and other medical documentation to determine accurate coding.Provide education to providers regarding proper documentation.Communicate directly with provider regarding missing documentation need for billing.Follow up with providers if notes are not signed off within 72hr of the encounter.Coding Compliance:Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines, regulations, and payer requirements.Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.Stay informed about changes in coding and reimbursement policies related to psychiatry.Billing and Revenue Cycle:Work closely with billing staff to resolve coding-related claim denials and rejections.Assist in the development and implementation of coding policies and procedures.Perform audits of medical records to identify and correct coding errors.Assist in the appeal process for denied claims.Ensure timely and accurate submission of claims.Documentation and Communication:Document coding decisions and rationale.Communicate effectively with physicians, therapists, and other staff regarding coding issues.Provide coding education and training to clinical staff as needed.Maintain accurate and organized coding records.EHR Management:Utilize EHR systems to access and update patient medical records.Be proficient in the use of electronic billing systems.Expectations: Must own laptop/computer required (i5 or higher).Available to work for 15 hours per week EST.Must have a private space to work to maintain the privacy of sensitive patient information.Must have wired or Wi-Fi connectivity with a download speed minimum of 20.0 Mbps and upload speed minimum of 10.0 Mbps. **Equal Opportunity Employer**Psychiatry Wellness Center embraces diversity and equal opportunity.
