Job Description

The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading and supporting Public Affairs activities to drive business objectives in the region. They will engage with stakeholders, shape external policy, and position Novartis as a trusted partner.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Identify and prioritize key policy areas that impact business growth, contributing to the creation of policy documents, advocacy toolkits, and training materials.
  2. Represent company interests, shaping and advancing legislative, policy, and alliance strategic objectives, executing product advocacy when necessary.
  3. Map and systematically engage with external stakeholders through direct contact and relationship building, setting up platforms for engagement on key policy and business priorities.
  4. Develop and execute engagement plans based on internal alignment with cross-function teams about country priorities, identifying key policy areas where we need to shape the environment and engage external stakeholders.
  5. Lead or actively participate in local trade/industry associations, participating in policy discussions to shape a favorable environment.
  6. Mitigate negative regulatory impacts either individually or together with industry/trade association.
  7. Formulate and obtain board alignment across divisions to implement consistent public affairs strategies in line with company strategy.
  8. Provide regular and quality input to Governments through reports and/or briefing documents, representing company.
  9. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders, including governments, research institutes, and media, to support business objectives.
  10. Cultivate close communication and alignment within the organization, especially with other business functions, to ensure the achievement of business objectives.
  11. Disseminate information to relevant stakeholders (patient groups, regulators, media, and partners) through appropriate use of communication channels.
  12. Lead the Public Affairs Council at the country level to strategize and implement initiatives.
  13. Translate policy/regulatory changes into implications for company, developing strong positioning for policy advocacy.
Requirements
  • Master's or degree in public policy, business, bioscience, or related fields.
  • Proficiency in English (written & spoken) and local language.
  • 8-10 years of experience in public affairs/public policy or related, preferably with multinational experience.
  • Background in government service is an added advantage, e.g., experience working with ministries, embassies, and other government agencies.
  • Critical thinking and high self-motivation to proactively drive the PA agenda.
  • Collaborating across boundaries, Project Management, Operations Management and Execution.
