Linux Support Specialist Opportunity

This role presents a unique chance for hands-on engineers with a passion for Linux and open-source technologies to collaborate with an exceptional team.

The Associate Support Engineer will be accountable for delivering outstanding technical support experiences on the full technical stack, spanning cloud, desktop, and IoT environments. From problem qualification to full resolution, they will own and manage their cases. When necessary, they will transfer their cases to colleagues or involve senior engineers.

The primary responsibilities include:

  • Contributing new knowledge base articles and maintaining existing ones to ensure shared knowledge and lessons learned are accessible to customers.
  • Drafting and distributing technical notices for internal and external communication.
  • Prioritizing tasks to accomplish the most critical and urgent work first.
  • Remaining up-to-date with evolving products and services through ongoing learning and professional development.
  • Understanding the Ubuntu development process to provide accurate customer expectations regarding timeline for fixes.
  • Maintaining regular communication and information exchange with the rest of the team, both locally and remotely.
  • Identifying opportunities to enhance service delivery and suggesting improvements.
  • Participating in a regular weekend working rotation.

We seek exceptional candidates who possess:

  • Excellent academic achievements from high school and university.
  • An undergraduate degree in a technical subject or an alternative chosen path, preferably majors like Computer Science, MIS, Electrical Engineering, etc.
  • Confidence in sharing feedback, ideas, and opinions without hesitation.
  • A track record of consistently exceeding expectations to achieve outstanding results.
  • Experience with Linux troubleshooting, including collecting logs and stack traces, fine-tuning by editing configuration files.
  • Knowledge or basic hands-on experience in two or more of:
    • Linux server administration.
    • Programming fundamentals in any language (e.g., bash, Perl, Ruby, JavaScript, C, C++, Go).
    • Networking concepts (bonding, firewalling, bridging, switching, network file system tuning, MTU issues, etc.).
    • Virtualization/cloud computing concepts (provisioning, monitoring, orchestration, etc.).
  • The ability to learn quickly, adapt to change, and handle the pressure of a customer-facing role.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Appreciation for diversity and effectiveness in a multi-cultural, multi-national organization.
  • Result-driven with a personal commitment to meeting obligations.

Nice-to-have skills include experience supporting virtualized environments (KVM, Virtual Box, VMWare), familiarity with other open-source desktop technologies, and active contribution to open-source projects/code.
