Job Overview

The role of a General Accountant entails working in close collaboration with the Financial Controller and the wider finance team to manage day-to-day transactional finance processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Managing the finance inbox involves accurately processing supplier invoices, credit cards, and employee expenses within NetSuite.
  • Raising purchase orders upon request necessitates ensuring alignment with financial records.
  • Preparing weekly payment runs for review and processing is essential.
  • Sending sales invoices, tracking payment status, and following up with debtors as needed is crucial.
  • Performing regular reconciliations of bank accounts ensures transactional integrity.
  • Supporting the preparation and filing of VAT returns in compliance with UK tax standards is necessary.
  • Assisting in the preparation of accruals, prepayments, fixed asset register maintenance, and balance sheet reconciliations is vital.
  • Collating and preparing year-end data and supporting audit documentation requests are key responsibilities.
  • Providing assistance to the Financial Controller with various finance-related projects and reporting tasks is essential.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience within a finance function is preferred.
  • Experience in UK GAAP and IFRS is highly desirable.
  • A strong working knowledge of accounting principles and month-end/year-end processes is necessary.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with experience in NetSuite being a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking are essential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary.
  • A proactive, self-starter attitude with the ability to work independently is required.
  • An understanding of data privacy and financial compliance standards is essential.
  • A willingness to commit to a 9-month project-based contract is necessary.
