Payroll Specialist

We are seeking a Payroll Tax Expert to provide tax support to clients in the areas of tax compliance, accurate submission of payroll taxes, W2/YE balancing, and client communication.
This role serves as a liaison in providing a point of contact for the client's inquiries, including employee level payroll and tax filing.
Key Responsibilities:- Respond to and resolve customer inquiries via CRM tool.
- Assess customer health using team-defined process.
- Review and audit payroll commits for accurate employee taxation.
- Partner with customers and internal payroll teams for accurate payroll tax adjustments.
- Conduct monthly audits for wage and rate accuracy.
- Assist with timely and accurate pre-funding requests for tax agencies.
- Review W-4 Form exemptions monthly for reasonability checks.
- Stay up-to-date on tax and compliance changes and work with customers for alignment.
- Perform quarterly and year-end audits to balance customers' and employees' taxes.
- Review tax code fallouts weekly and reconcile any withheld deposits.
- Process amendments promptly with customers and internal partners.
- Collaborate to ensure timely W-2Cs are processed.
- Process IRS Form 2808 (Lock-in Letters) promptly for withholding allowances.
- Experience: 3+ years required, 5+ years preferred in payroll tax, human resources, or payroll administration.
- Education: High school diploma or GED is required; bachelor's degree desired.
- Certifications: FPC or CPP certification required or commitment to obtain within two years.
- Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, time management skills, and analytical abilities.
- Knowledge: Proficiency in auditing techniques, understanding of payroll and tax compliance, and knowledge of applying employee state and local taxation based on regulatory requirements.
