Job Overview

System Support Specialist Role

  • The ideal candidate will possess technical proficiency, strong verbal and written communication skills, and a desire to learn and be involved in all aspects of IT support.
  • This role involves analyzing and documenting unfamiliar client/server network environments, assessing the quickest path to resolution for incidents affecting the network, and troubleshooting server and network level issues independently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Documenting client/server network environments to resolve incidents quickly.
  • Performing rapid analysis of workstation/server level incidents and determining root causes.
  • Handling diverse computing environments in various business settings.
  • Developing standards based on best practices and documenting needs across the client base.
  • Troubleshooting server and network level issues independently.
  • Providing consulting services to clients on applications, best practices, and general computing processes.
  • Escalating support, mentoring, and technical leadership to other engineers in the department.
  • Identifying opportunities for improvement in client environments and capturing those opportunities in central documentation systems.
  • Resolving reoccurring issues permanently through problem management.
  • Constantly reviewing security best practices to uncover potential risks and proactively resolving them.
  • Working with team leads to implement designated standards across the customer base to improve service delivery.
  • Resolving incidents related to mail applications, firewalls, backup/disaster recovery solutions, client/server connectivity, data restores, and remote access.
Required Skills and Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 6+ years desktop and/or server support experience.
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Experience designing network architectures inclusive of LAN/WAN networking and Windows Servers.
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Server and Workstation Technologies.
  • Knowledge and experience with Office 365 and Azure.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to articulate technical information to non-technical people.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to follow documented processes while notifying management of unclear variables.
