Job Opportunity: Data Analyst

We are seeking a skilled data analyst to join our team and support U.S. Customs and Border Protection in their efforts to protect the United States.

The ideal candidate will have experience with robust data manipulation, large-scale infrastructure for data ingestion, and stunning data visualization for custom client applications.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Data mining, data preparation, and reporting
  • Preparing and conducting analyses and studies, needs/gaps assessments
  • Applying knowledge to determine the accuracy and reasonableness of the data, recommendations, and solutions proposed
  • Documenting and summarizing the results and developing recommended solutions to the customer's problems
  • Preparation of big data, implementation of data models developed by others, and provision of database support for customer solutions
  • Being a key member of a data science project team, supporting data scientists or other consultants in the performance of assigned tasks
Requirements
  • Four (4) years relevant experience in applied research, big data analytics, statistics, applied mathematics, data science, computer science, operations research or other closely related quantitative or mathematical discipline
  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science, Operations Research or other closely related scientific or technical discipline
  • Knowledge of data mining methods, databases, data visualization, and machine learning
  • Experience with analytic techniques such as Anomaly detection, Clustering, and Time-series (e.g., ARIMA)
  • Experience implementing NLP concepts including preprocessing (stemming, etc.), TF-IDF, Named Entity Recognition, and LLMs
  • Ability to communicate analysis techniques, concepts, and products
  • Ability to develop data-driven analysis and reports based on data visualizations and data models
  • Strong SQL skills, and ability to identify issues with data
  • Experience with Qlik
  • Experience with Tableau
  • Experience with PowerBI tools
  • Familiarity with Databricks or similar cloud-based distributed database technologies
  • Understanding of database and database design
  • Demonstrated experience with cleaning, managing, optimizing performance, and processing large volumes of data
  • Demonstrated experience within an AWS environment (AWS certifications preferred)
  • Familiarity with industry best practices for software-hardware optimization when processing large sets of data
  • Ability to travel to and work on site at clients as needed
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
Preferred Experience and Skills
  • Expertise with Qlik
  • Experience with machine learning, with statistical modeling, time-series forecasting and/or geospatial analytics
  • Experience with Hadoop, Spark or other parallel storage/computing processes
