Medical Coding Specialist

The position of a Medical Coding Specialist involves the review and analysis of patient medical records for accuracy and completeness. The role also entails assigning correct ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes in accordance with official coding standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and analyze patient medical records to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Assign correct ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes based on official coding standards.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and payer-specific billing and documentation regulations.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve documentation inconsistencies and discrepancies.
  • Stay updated with industry changes through continuous training and education.
  • Perform audits to identify coding errors, denial trends, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Respond to coding-related questions from internal teams, providers, and insurance payers.
Requirements
  • AAPC or AHIMA certification is required.
  • At least 3 years of medical coding experience in a clinical or healthcare setting.
  • Familiarity with U.S. healthcare systems; U.S. experience is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and coding systems.
  • Proficient in using coding tools and Electronic Health Record (EHR) platforms.
  • Strong analytical skills and high level of accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including night shifts aligned with U.S. time zones.
