About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Financial Lines Underwriter to join our team. As an Assistant Manager, you will play a key role in underwriting and managing a portfolio of Financial Lines insurance products.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Underwriting new and renewal Financial Lines business in accordance with established guidelines and authority levels.
  • Evaluating complex risks, including analyzing financial statements, company performance, and industry trends.
  • Determining appropriate pricing, terms, and conditions for insurance policies.
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with brokers, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Negotiating terms and conditions with brokers, cedants, agents, and clients.
  • Monitoring portfolio performance, identifying trends, and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of underwriting strategies and initiatives.
  • Mentoring and training junior underwriters, providing guidance and support.
  • Ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Collaborating with claims, actuarial, and other departments as needed.
  • Staying updated on industry trends, market conditions, and emerging risks.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field.
  • Experience in Financial Lines underwriting.
  • Strong knowledge of Financial Lines insurance products, underwriting principles, and industry practices.
  • Excellent analytical, risk assessment, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong financial acumen and ability to interpret financial statements.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and underwriting systems.
  • Strong understanding of local insurance regulations and compliance requirements.
