Firmware Design Engineer

Designing and developing firmware is a vital function in our global organization. As a Firmware Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in creating software for our embedded systems. Your work will be focused on the new product development cycle, including requirements, design, verification, release, and documentation.

You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining firmware, particularly microcontrollers (MCUs). You will also develop low-level hardware drivers for peripherals such as UART, SPI, I2C, GPIO, DMA, and interrupts. Additionally, you will craft and implement test applications to validate hardware functionality and support manufacturing testing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Designing and developing firmware, especially MCUs.
  • Developing low-level hardware drivers for peripherals like UART, SPI, I2C, GPIO, DMA, and interrupts.
  • Crafting and implementing test applications to validate hardware functionality and support manufacturing testing.
  • Collaborating with hardware engineers during board bring-up to initialize and validate components, troubleshoot system integration and technical issues, and optimize system performance.
  • Participating in code reviews, debugging, and performance tuning to ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Following best practices in coding, version control, and documentation for firmware releases.
  • Working with multi-functional teams to define technical requirements and specifications.
  • Mentoring junior engineers and supporting team development.
  • Continuously evaluating and suggesting improvements to enhance product features, quality, and cost-efficiency.
  • Staying updated on industry trends, tools, and best practices in embedded firmware development.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in firmware development for embedded systems.
  • Strong understanding of embedded systems architecture and communication protocols (e.g., UART, SPI, I2C, CAN).
  • Proficiency in C/C++ for low-level embedded software development.
  • Hands-on experience with board bring-up, memory mapping, and debugging hardware/software integration issues.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
