Financial Operations Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Operations Specialist to join our team. As a key member of the finance department, you will play a critical role in supporting financial operations and ensuring accurate record-keeping.

Job Description

The ideal candidate will possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strong understanding of accounting principles and tax regulations. They will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions in a timely manner, and supporting various accounting functions.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including daily transactions and reconciliations.
  • Process vendor invoices and customer payments promptly, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and taxation regulations.
  • Assist in month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and accounted for.
  • Conduct regular bank, credit card, supplier, and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial records.
Required Skills And Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, preferably in e-commerce or retail.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Strong understanding of Australian accounting principles and tax regulations.
  • Experience in complex reconciliation processes and ability to resolve discrepancies.
  • Excellent attention to detail and high accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Fluent in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Key Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Record daily financial transactions with precision and timeliness in compliance with Australian accounting standards and taxation regulations.
  • Store and organize data for compliance and audit purposes.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, including daily and weekly reconciliations and aging monitoring.
  • Process and code vendor invoices and customer payments promptly.
  • Assist in month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded.
  • Conduct monthly bank, credit card, supplier, and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial records.
  • Collaborate in preparing schedules and documentation for external audits.
  • Support the preparation of financial reports as requested by management.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Category Management for inventory invoice entries aligned with purchase orders, credit applications, and new vendor setups in Paytron.
  • Prepare payroll for Australian employees and coordinate invoicing for remote contractors to ensure timely and accurate payments.
  • Identify areas for process improvements and work with other departments to enhance internal controls and efficiency.
