Senior DevOps Engineering Lead

We are seeking an exceptional Senior DevOps Engineering Lead to join our team. As a key member of our devops engineering management team, you will be responsible for leading our daily agile devops practices, representing the IS team to stakeholders, customers, and internal teams, organizing, coordinating, and driving internal projects, mentoring engineers to improve their skills, identifying and measuring team health indicators, implementing structured engineering and operations processes, and ensuring proper team focus on priorities, milestones, and deliverables.

This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with a strong background in software delivery using infrastructure as code, managing devops teams for SAAS or similar offerings, understanding of testing methodologies and maintainable code quality, technical aptitude for understanding complex distributed systems, experience with cloud topologies and technologies, and a drive and track record of going above-and-beyond expectations.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead daily agile devops practices and manage a high-performing devops team.
  • Represent the IS team to stakeholders, customers, and internal teams.
  • Organize, coordinate, and drive internal projects.
  • Mentor engineers to improve their skills.
  • Identify and measure team health indicators.
  • Implement structured engineering and operations processes.
  • Ensure proper team focus on priorities, milestones, and deliverables.

Our mission is to pioneer and prove new and better approaches to large-scale IS, support Canonical and Ubuntu operations, and shape Canonical's managed application service offerings. We are looking for someone who can help us raise the bar on devops and cloud-native operations.

What We Are Looking For In You:

  • A proven track record of delivering high-quality software solutions using infrastructure as code.
  • Experience managing devops teams for SAAS or similar offerings.
  • Strong understanding of testing methodologies and maintainable code quality.
  • Technical expertise in complex distributed systems and cloud topologies.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in and managing distributed teams.
  • Understanding of agile software development methodologies.
  • Ubuntu system administration skills.
