Senior Java Developer for Cloud-Native Software

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Java Developer to join our team focused on delivering the best possible Java runtimes and supporting tooling in Ubuntu.

The ideal candidate will have relevant experience with Java Runtimes and its ecosystem, ideally in the world of cloud-native software and Linux. They should also have expertise in packaging software for Debian and Ubuntu.

  • Analyzing and optimizing system performance
  • Designing and implementing new features
  • Maintaining and upgrading existing codebases
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects that impact every aspect of the Ubuntu ecosystem from Desktop to Server, Ubuntu Core, containers and also cloud images.

To succeed in this position, you should be a long-time Linux user and have a strong understanding of cloud computing principles and architectures. You should also be able to write high-quality code, debug issues and collaborate with other engineers to achieve shared goals.

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of experience with Java development and cloud-native software
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality software solutions
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong understanding of cloud computing principles and architectures
