Staff Software Engineer

Role Overview:

As a Staff Software Engineer, you are a senior technical leader within our engineering organization. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying high-impact software solutions that form the core of our Fintech platform. You will lead complex technical projects, provide mentorship to both junior and senior engineers, and exert significant influence on our technical direction, architecture, and engineering practices. This role requires deep technical expertise, a strategic mindset, and a passion for building high-quality, scalable, and secure systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Technical Leadership & Design:
  Lead the design and architecture of complex, large-scale software systems and features, ensuring alignment with best practices, security standards, and long-term technical vision.
• Development & Delivery:
  Write high-quality, maintainable, and well-tested code for critical components; contribute hands-on to key projects and set the standard for code quality.
• Problem Solving:
  Tackle the most ambiguous and challenging technical problems, performing deep dives, debugging complex issues, and architecting elegant solutions.
• Mentorship & Guidance:
  Mentor and coach junior and senior engineers, fostering their technical skills and career growth; lead by example through code reviews, design discussions, and knowledge sharing.
• Collaboration:
  Work closely with Product Managers, Designers, SREs, Principal Engineers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements, define technical solutions, and ensure successful product delivery.
• Technical Standards:
  Champion and improve engineering best practices, coding standards, testing strategies, CI/CD processes, and application security within the team and across the department.
• Architecture & Innovation:
  Actively participate in architectural discussions and reviews (including ArchiCom); evaluate, prototype, and recommend new technologies and approaches to enhance our platform and development processes.
• Fintech Focus:
  Ensure all technical solutions adhere to the strict security, reliability, and compliance standards required within the financial services industry.
• Code Quality & Review:
  Set and maintain high standards for code quality; perform and lead thorough code reviews, providing constructive and actionable feedback.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 8+ years of professional software development experience, building and shipping high-quality software products.
• Proven track record of designing, developing, and operating complex, large-scale, and often distributed systems.
• Deep expertise in one or more core programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, Go, JavaScript).
• Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, and concurrency.
• Significant experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and designing cloud-native solutions.
• Experience with various database technologies (SQL and NoSQL).
• Solid understanding and experience with Agile development methodologies and CI/CD pipelines.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects from conception to launch.
• Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly and influence others.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in the Fintech, banking, or financial services industry is a significant plus.
• Experience with microservices architecture, containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Experience building highly available, fault-tolerant, and secure systems.
• Experience with performance optimization and scalability strategies.
• Experience formally or informally mentoring senior engineers.
• Contributions to open-source projects or a visible technical presence (e.g., conference talks, technical blogs).
