A purchasing assistant plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of an organization's supply chain. The individual responsible for this position will support the procurement team in sourcing, ordering, and tracking materials, components, and finished goods to guarantee timely delivery and meet production and sales demands.

This role requires strong communication, data entry, and coordination skills, as well as a keen interest in supply chain and procurement processes. To succeed, one must be able to analyze information, make informed decisions, and take proactive steps to resolve any potential issues that may arise.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the procurement team in identifying and selecting suppliers who can provide high-quality products at competitive prices.
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders based on inventory levels, sales forecasts, and production schedules.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date purchasing records in the purchase order system and tracking worksheets.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams regarding order status and any supply chain issues.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • An associate's or bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field.
  • 1–2 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with ERP systems is a plus.
