Piping Designer Job Description

As a Piping Designer/Drafter, you will be responsible for handling all aspects of piping design and drafting, including 3D routing, support placement, and creating fabrication/installation drawings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform piping drafting/design tasks, including 3D routing of pipe, determining location of pipe supports and creation of Isometric drawings, sketches necessary for the fabrication and installation of piping systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret equipment drawings and technical data from third-party vendors.
  • Develop, quantify, and organize piping material take-off's (MTO's).
  • Follow company CAD standards and client piping specifications.
  • Ensure design compliance with respective client/company specification and codes.
  • Ability to check and back-check drawings produced by drafting.
  • Interact with designers and engineers within the engineering group, and from other disciplines, in a team environment to create multi-discipline design packages for construction.
  • Work within company policy as outlined in the Employee Handbook and Safety Manual.
  • Interface with designers from other disciplines to provide a complete 3D model that meets project requirements.
  • Competent in understanding and updating P&ID's.
