Editorial Content Creator

Devex Manila is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized individual to support its special coverage team in creating impactful live journalism events, podcasts, and other digital content around critical global convenings.

This role involves collaborating with the senior editor for special coverage to shape how Devex shows up to and covers key moments in global development. The successful candidate will also conduct research, identify innovators and thought leaders, and help bring issues to life onstage through speaker recommendations and event planning.

The position requires strong editorial judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to juggle multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail. Additionally, the ideal candidate should possess fluency in written and spoken English and be comfortable navigating fast-paced environments.

• Exhibit strong editorial judgment: Collaborate with the Senior Editor for Special Coverage to shape how Devex shows up to and covers key moments in global development, to include special edition newsletters, podcasts, and live events, which are an extension of our journalism.
• Conduct research: Explore the issues that matter to our community, help to develop ideas for interviews or panels, and identify innovators and thought leaders- and how best to reach them- to feature in our events and podcasts.
• Help bring issues to life onstage: Identify and recommend speakers who can bring critical issues to life onstage, helping our audience better understand complex challenges in global development, and opportunities for collaboration.
• Manage speaker correspondence: Handle communications with a robust roster of speakers to confirm speaking details, schedule briefing calls, collect and share key assets, prepare event and podcast materials briefs and materials, and join speaker briefing calls that spark confidence.
• Provide strategic support: Support the senior editor and executive editor with both seeking and managing external speaking and moderation opportunities, coordinating logistics and scheduling, and developing presentations.
• Collaborate across teams: Partner with social media, marketing, and production teams, as well as the Office of the President, to ensure content flows smoothly from concept to execution, maintaining consistency across the entire event lifecycle.
• Keep organized: Maintain meticulous organization of project timelines, deliverables, and communication. Ensure all tracking tools and documents are up-to-date to support efficient event management.
• Support event coverage: Support any write-ups or video recaps from event sessions, providing input on what moments are most valuable and interesting for the Devex community.

To succeed in this role, you should possess the following skills and qualifications:

• Strong editorial judgment and a keen sense for what matters to global development audiences, with experience editing and curating content that resonates.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders.
• A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a journalism, editorial content creation, and / or event management role.
• Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to produce clear and concise content.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and maintain attention to detail.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
• A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in journalism, communications, or a related field.
