About the Role

The role of Senior Accountant involves reviewing and overseeing the work of junior accountants to ensure accuracy and quality of financial statements, VAT returns, corporate tax returns, and other accounting deliverables before submission.

  • Reviewing and Oversight Experience: We require a proven ability to review juniors' work, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Tax and Compliance Expertise: In-depth knowledge of UK corporate tax, VAT, P11Ds, and statutory accounts up until submission is essential.
  • Payroll Management: Supervising and reviewing UK payroll processes, ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations is crucial.
Key Responsibilities
  • Corporate Tax & Compliance: Oversee the preparation and submission of UK corporate tax returns, VAT returns, and P11Ds while ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Financial Reporting: Assist in preparing statutory accounts for UK limited companies in accordance with UK accounting standards.
  • Team Management & Delegation: Work closely with junior bookkeepers providing guidance and constructive feedback while ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Client Communication: Effectively liaise with UK clients regarding financial reports, tax matters, and compliance requirements.
  • Process Improvement: Identify areas for improvements and implement best practices within the accounting workflow.
Requirements
  • Experience in a UK Accounting Firm: A strong understanding of UK accounting standards, regulations, and best practices is necessary.
  • ACCA or Equivalent Qualification: Preferred but not mandatory.
  • Detail Oriented & Analytical: High level of accuracy, problem-solving ability, and analytical thinking is required.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Strong English language proficiency (written and verbal) is essential.
