We are seeking an experienced Romance Editor to join our team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for guiding manuscripts from draft to polished novel, elevating characters, refining emotional arcs, and sharpening pacing to keep readers engaged.

This role is ideal for someone with a passion for romance novels and a strong command of grammar, dialogue pacing, and formatting.

Responsibilities:
  • Developmental & Line Editing: Strengthen pacing, characterization, and trope delivery while maintaining voice.
  • Scene Drafting: Write seamless new material when needed, matching the author's style.
  • Copyediting: Ensure every line is clean, consistent, and immersive.
  • Genre Coaching: Keep heat levels, payoffs, and beats aligned with contemporary romance expectations.
  • Collaboration: Deliver feedback via tracked changes, editorial letters, and occasional live calls.
  • Multi-Project Management: Balance multiple manuscripts while maintaining high editorial standards.
Requirements:
  • At least 3 years of professional editing experience in contemporary romance.
  • Strong ghostwriting or scene drafting experience.
  • Advanced command of grammar, dialogue pacing, and formatting.
  • Ability to spot sagging middles, sharpen arcs, and elevate tropes.
  • A deep love for romance — you know the difference between a HEA and a HFN, and why it matters.
