Senior Accountant Role

This position involves ensuring the accuracy and quality of financial statements, VAT returns, corporate tax returns, and other accounting deliverables before submission.

  • Financial Statement Review: The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing and verifying the work of junior accountants to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Tax Compliance Oversight: This role requires overseeing the preparation and submission of UK corporate tax returns, VAT returns, and P11Ds while ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Payroll Management: The accountant will supervise and review UK payroll processes, ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations.
  • Statutory Accounts Preparation: Assisting in preparing statutory accounts for UK limited companies in accordance with UK accounting standards.
  • Accounting Team Supervision: Working closely with junior bookkeepers to provide guidance and constructive feedback while ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Client Liaison: Effectively liaising with UK clients regarding financial reports, tax matters, and compliance requirements.
Requirements
  • UK Accounting Experience: A strong understanding of UK accounting standards, regulations, and best practices is essential for this role.
  • Reviewing & Oversight Experience: Proven ability to review juniors' work, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Tax & Compliance Expertise: In-depth knowledge of UK corporate tax, VAT, P11Ds, and statutory accounts up until submission.
  • Payroll Knowledge: Extensive experience managing UK payroll and HMRC compliance.
  • Leadership & Team Delegation: Experience in supervising and mentoring accounting teams.
  • Software Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of Xero and other UK accounting software.
  • Detail Oriented & Analytical: High level of accuracy, problem-solving ability, and analytical thinking.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Strong English language proficiency (written and verbal).
