Polishing Expert Wanted

Apply for a challenging role as a Polishing Expert in our precision optics manufacturing team. In this position, you will be responsible for optimizing and developing chemical-mechanical polishing and fine grinding techniques for ZnSe.

  • Develop and optimize processes to minimize defects such as surface haze, scratches, subsurface damage, and roughness.
  • Implement statistical process control (SPC) to monitor polishing uniformity and define quality criteria based on interferometry.
  • Work with the Quality Assurance team to ensure compliance with optical performance standards (ISO 10110).
  • Maintain and optimize lapping and polishing equipment; evaluate new tools, pads, slurries, and coatings to enhance performance.
  • Develop predictive maintenance programs to ensure equipment reliability.
  • Perform defect analysis and root cause investigation using optical microscopy, interferometry, and SEM.
  • Optimize edge rounding, stress-relief polishing, and surface conditioning techniques.
  • Implement automation and Industry 4.0 technologies for real-time process monitoring.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • 1-3 years of experience in precision optics polishing, CMP or semiconductor wafer processing.
  • Proficiency in ZnSe material properties, surface roughness control, and finishing techniques.
  • Experience with abrasives, slurries, and polishing chemistries.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Six Sigma Certification for process optimization.
  • Experience with precision optics manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of fluid dynamics in polishing slurry distribution.

  • Process Optimization & Root Cause Analysis – reducing polishing defects.
  • Material Science & Surface Engineering – ZnSe behavior under different conditions.
  • Metrology & Quality Assurance – precision optical measurements.
  • Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement – SPC, DOE, yield enhancement.
Work Environment
  • Cleanroom or controlled laboratory environment with polishing equipment.
  • May involve chemical handling and exposure to polishing slurries.
