Accountant Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable accountant to support the accounting operations of our U.S.-based startup clients. This is a remote role that requires preparing financial reports, maintaining accurate general ledgers, managing daily accounting tasks, and assisting in month-end closings.

As an accountant, you will be responsible for ensuring financial accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with U.S. accounting standards (GAAP). Your role will be crucial in helping ensure the smooth operation of our clients' accounting functions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare monthly financial statements (Balance Sheet, P&L, Cash Flow)
  • Perform journal entries, reconciliations, and ensure accuracy in general ledger accounts
  • Process and review accounts payable and receivable transactions
  • Generate accurate financial reports and analyses for review by clients and senior staff
  • Assist in preparing budgets, forecasts, and variance reports
  • Maintain up-to-date records and ensure documentation supports reported balances
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
  • 3+ years of corporate accounting experience
  • Experience working remotely for a U.S.-based accounting firm
  • Strong knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting, and cost control principles
  • Advanced knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices, U.S. GAAP, laws, standards, and state/national regulations
  • Solid experience with QuickBooks Online (certification a plus)
  • Advanced proficiency with spreadsheet software (MS Excel and Google Sheets)
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to follow through and execute a high volume of nuanced tasks
  • Ability to work with a strong sense of urgency in a fast-paced setting with a wide variety of tasks
  • A passion for rapidly changing technology and software solutions that maximize efficiency and deliver firm-wide value
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certified Public Accountant
  • Experience in startups, SaaS, or fast-paced client environments
  • Familiarity with tools such as Expensify, Bill.com, Gusto, Stripe, etc.
  • Experience with platforms like Airtable, Loom, Salesforce, Box, and others
  • Strong bank reconciliation experience
