Job Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced Cyber Security Operations Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our SOC operations team, you will be responsible for monitoring and analyzing security events on an ongoing basis, investigating and responding to threats in a timely and effective manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Security Event Monitoring: Monitor and analyze security information and event management (SIEM) systems to identify security issues that require remediation.
  • Threat Identification and Response: Recognize potential, successful, and unsuccessful intrusion attempts and compromises through thorough reviews and analyses of relevant event detail and summary information.
  • Malware Analysis: Evaluate and deconstruct malware, including obfuscated code, using open-source and vendor-provided tools.
  • Communication and Reporting: Communicate alerts to clients regarding intrusions and compromises to their network infrastructure, applications, and operating systems.
  • Documentation and Knowledge Transfer: Prepare briefings and reports of analysis methodology and results, create and maintain standard operating procedures, and generate end-of-shift reports for documentation and knowledge transfer to subsequent analysts on duty.
  • Training and Support: Assist entry-level SOC analysts in building stronger skills, support cyber defense functions to protect organizations from cybersecurity incidents, and review suspicious threat activity via logs and security applications.
  • Incident Response: Decide necessary remediation actions for various systems, create clear and concise write-ups representing the overall summary, analysis, actions taken, and recommendations for escalated incidents, and validate operations during their shift.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in ticketing, monitoring systems, and working in a SOC environment.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze data, such as logs or packet captures, from various sources within the enterprise and draw conclusions regarding past and future security incidents.
  • Technical Knowledge: Basic knowledge of client-server applications, multi-tier web applications, relational databases, firewalls, VPNs, Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), and SIEM technologies, as well as fundamental understanding of computer networking (TCP/IP) and knowledge of Windows, Linux, and Information Security.
  • Cybersecurity Experience: In-depth experience in performing security investigations across different platforms, including OS, networks, cloud, messaging, etc., and high-level knowledge of cybersecurity attack and defense techniques.
  • Cloud Cybersecurity Tools: Experience working with cloud cybersecurity tools.
  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as interpersonal skills to interact with clients, team members, and upper management, and proficient in both oral and written communication.

Benefits and Requirements

  • Salary: The estimated annual salary for this position is $85,000 - $110,000, depending on location and experience.
  • Educational Background: Graduate of any college degree in Computer Science or Information Security, or related technical field of expertise.
  • Schedule and Location: Must be willing to work on a shifting schedule and on-site.
