Java Ecosystem Specialist

As a Java Ecosystem Specialist, you will be part of an exciting opportunity to expand our team's focus on the Java ecosystem. We are seeking passionate software engineers with expertise in open source software, Java, and the Java Virtual Machine. The ideal candidate will have experience working with Linux system and software architecture.

The successful applicant will demonstrate a strong passion for the future of Java and the Java Virtual Machine, as well as Ubuntu. They should be aware of the dynamics of the open-source ecosystem and mindful of the needs of innovative organizations.

Our goal is to enable mission-critical Java applications to be deployed safely, securely, and efficiently on large-scale Ubuntu estates. We aim to ensure that cutting-edge Java innovation is available to Ubuntu users, laying the foundation for future inventions and open-source communities building on the JVM.

As a member of the Ubuntu Foundations team, your work will impact every aspect of the Ubuntu ecosystem, from Desktop to Server, Ubuntu Core, containers, and cloud images.

  • Collaborate proactively with a distributed team
  • Integrate and package best-of-breed tooling with Ubuntu to enhance developer and operator experience with Java Runtimes, frameworks, and applications
  • Develop high-quality code to create new features
  • Debug issues and produce high-quality code to resolve them
  • Review code produced by other engineers
  • Discuss ideas and collaborate on finding effective solutions
