Piping Systems Designer Job Description

This role involves handling all aspects of piping design and drafting, including 3D routing, support placement, and creating fabrication/installation drawings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform piping drafting/design tasks including 3D routing of pipe, determine location of pipe supports and creation of Isometric drawings, sketches necessary for the fabrication and installation of piping systems. Piping designers also create detailed designs to ensure that piping systems meet client specifications and company standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret equipment drawings and technical data from third party vendors.
  • Develop, quantify, and organize piping material take-off's (MTO's), ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
  • Follow company CAD standards and client piping specifications.
  • Ensure design compliance with respective client/company specification and codes.
  • Ability for check and back check drawings produced by drafting.
  • Interact with designers and engineers within the engineering group, and from other disciplines, in a team environment to create multi-discipline design packages for construction.
  • Work within company policy as outlined in the Employee Handbook and Safety Manual.
  • Interface with designers from other disciplines to provide a complete 3D model that meets project requirements.
  • Competent in understanding and updating Process & Instrument Diagrams (P&ID's).
