Freelance Draftsman Job Opportunity

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Freelance Draftsman to join their team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with engineering partners, provide prompt customer and permit support, and maintain organized documentation.


Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for researching and finding plats or surveys using local GIS, recreating lot lines, developing options for house placement and orientation, generating site layout options, and ensuring complete and accurate agency submittals while following OR and WA permitting procedures.

Additional responsibilities include generating lot-specific drawings, revising existing plan documents with engineering details, organizing work for computer access, providing timely support to builders on-site, and expediting permitting by liaising with city/county staff.

The ideal candidate will also be able to produce address-specific plans within set deadlines, update and manage the plan library per manager's directives, create new plan designs from schematics to the design development stage, and execute SPR drafting tasks.


Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in the related field; bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • 2-5 years of drafting experience or equivalent.
  • Residential construction or home remodeling drafting experience required.
  • Familiarity with building codes and permitting standards in WA and OR preferred.
  • Ability to conduct internet research and familiarity with local GIS.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to build rapport.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to collaborate with various stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
