Accounting Specialist Role

The primary function of this role is to provide support to the Accounting team by handling various operational finance tasks. This includes managing accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash, prepaids, journal entries, and financial reporting.

This position will work closely with the Transaction Services (TS) team and Core Accounting Team to ensure all transactions are booked in a timely and accurate manner. Key responsibilities include:

  • Participating in the month-end close process
  • Completing Bank Reconciliations for certain entities
  • Assisting in researching old variances on the Bank Reconciliations
  • Preparing journal entries to be reviewed by the accounting team
  • Recording bank transactions on a daily/weekly basis
  • Downloading Utilities invoices from Utility Vendor online accounts
  • Monitoring Prepaid Expenses and Prepaid Insurance that hit during the month
  • Assisting with Accounts Payable Aging clean-up
  • Obtaining support and amortization of Prepaid expenses
  • Maintaining personal property tax tracker
  • Roll forward and preparing Balance Sheet Account reconciliations

In addition to these responsibilities, this role may also involve participating in special projects, system enhancements, or ad-hoc analyses as assigned.

Required skills and qualifications include:

  • Relevant Accounting education
  • Mid to advanced Excel proficiency
  • Minimum of 5 years of direct experience in accounting-related functions
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong analytical disposition with high attention to detail, accuracy, and organization
  • Creative thinker and problem solver
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines
