The Role:

As a creative and organized Writer-Editor, you will play a vital role in developing and enhancing written content for college applications. Your expertise will be essential in providing detailed feedback, emphasizing clarity, style, and structure.

We seek a motivated and deadline-oriented individual who is intimately familiar with essay writing, prompt-based narrative writing, and other similar creative nonfiction writing. In an age where AI dominates the education sector, we value the human element of our work.

Our ideal candidate has exceptional English verbal and written skills, a strong grip on grammar, and experience working for an education consulting company specializing in college admissions. A portfolio with a minimum of three written samples, one creative piece, and one research sample is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Writing and Editing: You will brainstorm with the College Admissions Team's Consultants about the direction of the essays, provide feedback to students, and edit the students' rough drafts to fix grammar, clarity, style, flow, structure, and word count.
  • Research: Depending on the student's interest and profile, you will research different topics to strengthen their work.
  • Collaboration: As a member of the Editing Team, you will help team members with drafting, brainstorming, augmenting, and reviewing, especially regarding assignments with urgent deadlines.
  • Administration and Logistics: You will be responsible for administrative tasks associated with your assignments.
  • Business Development: During the off-season, you can expect to work on projects that contribute to the growth of the team and company overall.

Requirements:

  • Exceptional English verbal and written skills with a strong grip on grammar
  • Graduated from a 4-year degree program in either English, Literature, Journalism, Education, or related fields
  • Experience working for an education consulting company specializing in college admissions is preferred but not required
  • Portfolio with a minimum of three written samples (one creative piece and one research sample are encouraged)
