Accounting Expert

This position plays a vital role in providing timely guidance to professionals on matters related to accounting and financial reporting standards and developments, training, consultation, and quality control review of financial statements.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor significant developments on accounting and financial reporting matters
  • Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members and review their work
  • Identify any potential impact on financial statements or clients and communicate actions to engagement teams
  • Conduct research or consultations with experts or topic team members as necessary
  • Draft review memos, alerts, and reminders for dissemination of relevant developments, guidance, templates, tools, and firm positions on accounting and financial reporting matters
Consultation
  • Provide expert consultation and respond to technical queries primarily on complex accounting and financial reporting requirements
  • Offer guidance to subordinates in handling their respective queries
Financial Statements Quality Control Review (FSQCR)
  • Perform FSQCR by reviewing financial statements for compliance with relevant presentation and disclosure requirements, and related auditor's report compliance with relevant auditing standards
Training
  • Serve as facilitator/trainer in the rollout of training on subject matters related to accounting and financial reporting
  • Draft localized training materials on accounting and financial reporting
  • Develop local training materials on accounting and financial reporting
  • Strong knowledge of IRS/PFRS. Knowledge of other financial reporting frameworks is an advantage (US GAAP, PFRF for Cooperatives, or other financial reporting frameworks prescribed by regulatory agencies)
  • Knowledge of ISA/PSA
  • Proven technical competence - strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Personal effectiveness - strong organizational skills: ability to supervise and work effectively within teams and independently and commitment to high performance and continuous improvement
  • Strong communication skills - ability to explain complex ideas simply and convey messages convincingly

Experience, Education, and Licenses
  • Any or a combination of work experience (2 to 3 years) in the following areas: technical advisor - e.g., accounting, audit support
  • Public audit with experience in auditing complex accounting areas
  • Preparation of training content related to complex accounting areas
  • Preparation of internal and/or external formal communications and materials, including IFRS/PFRS related content
  • Project management
  • Bachelor of Science in Accountancy
  • Certified Public Accountant
