Seeking an experienced medical coder with a strong background in outpatient training and education. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting medical coding education for new and existing medical coders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop modules for medical coding and billing training, including ICD 10 CM, CPT, E/M coding, Business of Medicine, Edit Resolution, and Revenue Cycle Management.
  • Create curriculum and training syllabus related to coding and billing training programs, including Periodic Updates, Policy updates, Peripherals of RCM, and Medical Coding Training.
  • Maintain knowledge of ICD 10 CM, ICD 10 PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
  • Update existing training modules and develop materials for inpatient medical coding exercises, assessment, and qualifying examination.
  • Consolidate coder scores from quizzes, exams, and assessments and present consolidated data during weekly meetings.
  • Maintain certifications of staff by providing continuing education units.
  • Provide training and review for onboarding coders and refresher training for tenured coders.
  • Disseminate changes and updates in guidelines and rules.
  • Collaborate with workgroups to resolve issues that impact internal and external customers.
  • Possess knowledge of, understanding of, and compliance with all policies and procedures.
  • Participate in monthly calibration training.
  • Create assessments to check learnings from calibration training.Qualifications:
    • Graduate of any Medical or Allied Medical course or equivalent work experience.
    • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
    • Proficient with Revenue Cycle Management, E/M, and Procedure Coding.
    • Ability to work in a team environment and have the willingness to adjust to changing job responsibilities, shifting schedules, new procedures, and unexpected workloads and stresses.
    • Possess strong verbal, written communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
    • Willingness and flexibility to work extended hours.
    • Assertive self-starter who can work independently, yet function in a team environment.
    • Ability to plan well and prioritize work and maintain calmness under pressure.
    • An understanding and strict adherence to all HIPAA regulations.
