Job Title:

General Accountant for a Climate Tech Company

This is an exciting opportunity to join our accounting team and play a key role in the success of our business. As a General Accountant, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of our financial records, preparing financial statements, and providing support to the accounting manager.

Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the month-end close by preparing journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting schedules on a timely basis.
  • Assist the Accounting Manager with consolidations, including reviewing domestic and foreign subsidiary financials, eliminations, and financial statement reports in NetSuite for external reporting compliance.
  • Manage business travel and expense platform, Navan, ensuring policy compliance and accurate coding of transactions.
  • Maintain fixed asset subledger and propose additions and disposals.
  • Analyze and provide commentary on monthly Balance Sheet and P&L account balances.
  • Assist billing department during month-end close and ensure payments are processed timely and purchase order exceptions are resolved.
  • Interact cross-functionally with department managers (Finance, People, Legal, International) to support accounting team goals.
  • Contribute to creation and maintenance of critical accounting policies.
  • Execute annual financial statement audit by providing supporting documentation and responding promptly and accurately to audit team inquiries.
  • Assist with system implementations, technical accounting analysis, and projects as needed.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, drive efficiency and streamline processes.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • BS in Finance/Accounting or CPA
  • Proficient understanding of US GAAP and technical accounting
  • Minimum 2-4 years General Ledger accounting experience, including account reconciliation and analysis
  • Experience in month-end processes
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Flexibility and willingness to assist with assorted tasks
  • Proficient with MS Office, including Excel and Word
  • Willingness to work Pacific Time Zone hours

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • CPA
  • Public accounting experience with a global firm
  • Experience working with external audit firms
  • Experience with financial statement preparation
  • International accounting experience, including consolidations and foreign currency transactions and gains/losses
  • Experience with systems such as NetSuite, Coupa, FloQast
  • Experience in the mining industry and manufacturing
