Linux Support Role

This role is an opportunity for a hands-on engineer with eagerness to learn, a passion for Linux and open source technologies to work with industry leaders.

The Associate Support Engineer will be accountable for delivering an outstanding technical support experience on the full technical stack across cloud, desktop and IoT. From problem qualification to full resolution, you will own and manage your cases. When needed, you will transfer your cases to your colleagues or involve senior engineers.

This globally remote role involves working from your home office to provide technical support for employees. This entails being available to take ownership of new cases via telephone, email and web, acting as an internal customer advocate keeping them updated in a timely manner, ensuring that each support case owned by you is handled according to our Service Level Agreement (SLA) with the highest possible customer satisfaction by setting the right expectations and fulfilling your commitments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing technical support for employees from your home office
  • Taking ownership of new cases via telephone, email and web
  • Acting as an internal customer advocate keeping them updated in a timely manner
  • Ensuring that each support case is handled according to our Service Level Agreement (SLA)
  • Contributing knowledge base articles and maintaining existing articles
  • Drafting and distributing technical notices for internal and external communication
  • Prioritising work to accomplish the most important and urgent tasks first
  • Continuing professional development to keep up with evolving products and services
  • Maintaining regular communication with the team locally and remotely
  • Identifying opportunities to improve service delivery
Requirements:
  • Excellent academic record from high school and university
  • Technical degree or compelling alternative chosen path
  • Confidence in sharing ideas and feedback
  • Track record of exceeding expectations in achieving results
  • Experience with Linux troubleshooting
  • Knowledge or experience in server administration, programming fundamentals, networking, virtualization or Cloud computing concepts
  • Able to learn quickly and handle pressure in a customer-facing role
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
  • Awareness of diversity and ability to communicate effectively in a multi-cultural organisation
  • Results-driven with personal commitment to meeting goals
