Job Title: Solar Estimator

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to join our team as a Solar Estimator. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing comprehensive proposals and cost estimates for solar projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for solar projects, including materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Conduct thorough analysis of project drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and tender documentation to ensure compliant proposals.
  • Engage proactively with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing, lead times, and technical information.
  • Prepare and issue Tender Packages as Requests for Quotation (RFQs), managing the process from issuance to review of responses.
  • Develop comprehensive tender submissions, including technical proposals, cost breakdowns, and preliminary project schedules.
  • Ensure all estimating activities adhere to quality, environmental, and safety management plans.
  • Assist the project team with technical aspects during installation, testing, and commissioning phases of projects.
  • Support the project team in monitoring project programs and identifying potential impacts on timelines.
  • Identify and assess project risks during the estimation phase and contribute to mitigation strategies.
Requirements:
  • Experience: 5+ years in electrical estimating, focusing on solar PV and BESS, including tender submissions in the Australian sector.
  • Technical Skills: Strong ability to interpret electrical drawings and specifications; deep knowledge of solar PV/BESS systems.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Experienced in liaising with suppliers/subcontractors and skilled in negotiation and communication.
  • Qualifications: Electrical trade qualification or degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Software Proficiency: Familiar with Simpro or similar job management tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Industry Knowledge: Well-versed in Australian renewable energy regulations and standards.
  • Personal Attributes: Detail-oriented, analytical, organised, and effective in fast-paced environments.
