Prior Authorization Coordinator

About the Role:

This is a dynamic opportunity to support our Endocrinology practice with insurance verification and prior authorization duties, as well as patient scheduling. The ideal candidate will be able to manage multiple tasks efficiently while delivering exceptional patient service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Verify insurance coverage and obtain prior authorizations for medications, diagnostic tests, and procedures.
  • Schedule patient appointments, follow-ups, and procedures in coordination with the Endocrinology team.
  • Manage high volumes of inbound and outbound patient calls while maintaining professionalism and empathy.
  • Communicate clearly with patients regarding authorizations, scheduling, and preparation requirements.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other staff to ensure smooth patient flow and minimize delays.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the EMR and insurance portals.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience required.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in insurance verification, prior authorizations, and/or medical scheduling.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance processes, benefits verification, and prior authorization workflows.
  • Excellent spoken English with a neutral or clear accent (critical for patient communication).
  • Ability to handle fast-paced environments and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and patient-first attitude.
