Strategic Financial Advisor

The role of a business analyst is to help an organization make better, more informed decisions by analyzing data and providing strategic insights.

A key part of this job is to develop and implement plans to improve the organization's performance. This involves identifying areas where improvements can be made, developing strategies for implementation, and monitoring progress.

Beyond data analysis, the senior financial analyst will partner with various leaders at Thumbtack to help manage and grow the business. The company is growing at a rapid pace, and you will play an important role in providing thought partnership and decision support to many new initiatives.

This role reports to the finance manager of financial planning & analysis (FP&A).

• Financial Analysis: Drive the monthly, annual forecasts and budgets for all operational spend, highlighting insightful variance analysis and implications to forecast.
• Forecasting: Forecast accurately, not only aligning on assumptions with stakeholders but understanding what, where, and why we spend.
• Evaluating Trade-Offs: Evaluate trade-offs and financial sensitivities leading to better decision making and scenario planning.
• Supporting Stakeholders: Provide frontline support for ad hoc financial analysis requests and inquiries, presenting and visualizing data and insights.
• Developing Efficiency Metrics: Develop efficiency metrics to help inform growth and set financial context.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Establish and maintain trusting relationships with all key stakeholders.
• Reconciliations: Reconcile HC for the organization.
• Cost Management: Partner closely with business partners to understand their needs and develop effective and strategic cost management solutions.
• Sales Support: Support sales teams to ensure accuracy and alignment of commissions.

• Degree: A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related field.
• Experience: 6+ years of relevant financial analysis work experience in FP&A, corporate finance, or management consulting.
• Skills: Strong financial modeling and analytical skills using key tools within Excel and G-Suite.
• Mindset: Adopt a constant improvement mindset and apply towards making processes and procedures more efficient.
• Understanding: Strong understanding of/exposure to US GAAP or IFRS.
• Problem Solving: Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Collaboration: Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to partner effectively with stakeholders across the organization.
