Shopify Web Developer

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Shopify web developer to build a new Shopify site, migrate content from the old site, and implement light automations and UI improvements. The ideal candidate will have experience with Shopify theme setup, content migration, and go-live processes.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop a custom Shopify theme aligned with brand guidelines using OS 2.0.
  • Migrate and organize content from the previous website (pages, FAQs, sponsor highlights, event details).
  • Configure navigation, collections, and essential pages for ease of use.
  • Set up reliable automations tied to key site actions (e.g., contact/sponsor interest forms, ticket confirmation messaging).
  • Configure integrations as needed (e.g., email notifications, form routing) to reduce manual processes.
  • Document automation flows for easy client handoff.
  • Apply design improvements that increase readability, mobile responsiveness, and conversion without overcomplicating the build.
  • Optimize page layouts for event highlights, sponsors, FAQs, and calls-to-action.
  • Ensure consistent styling aligned with brand tone; prioritize function over heavy re-design.
  • Test cross-browser/mobile responsiveness, page speed basics, forms, and checkout/app flows.
  • Migrate DNS/launch the site safely with rollback plan and clear go-live checklist.
  • Provide brief post-launch support window for fixes and polish.
  • Maintain clear progress updates and surface risks early; provide concise documentation and train the client team on content updates and managing simple automations.
Requirements
  • Proven Shopify expertise with a portfolio showcasing live Shopify builds.
  • End-to-end website creation experience, including theme setup, content migration, and go-live.
  • Hands-on experience implementing simplified automations within a Shopify context.
  • Strong front-end skills (Liquid/Shopify OS 2.0, HTML/CSS; basic JS) for customization and troubleshooting.
  • Availability for a project-based engagement at 20 hours per week.
Work Arrangement
  • Remote position with reliable internet and dedicated workspace.
  • Required to provide own computer with capable specifications.
Compensation and Benefits
  • 20 hours per week
  • $6 per hour
  • No benefits package included for this project-based engagement.
