**Job Title:** Senior Accounting Manager

Job Description
  • Oversee the month-end and year-end closing process, including preparation of audit schedules, financial statements, and notes to the financial statements.
  • Keep engagement partners informed and updated on engagement progress, engagement issues, team status, and needs.
  • Have in-depth knowledge of complex accounting issues and treatment, proficient in accounting research.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, including statement of financial position, statement of activities, statement of functional expenses, and analysis on changes in financial position and budget variances.
  • Review reconciliations for significant balance sheet accounts and various other general ledger accounts as needed, and review month-end closing entries, including payroll, fringe, indirect allocations, investment allocations, and grant allocations.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the accounting operations within each assigned client.
  • Be proficient in the clients' accounting software packages.
  • Recommend and enforce internal controls, policies, and procedures established by the client.
  • Lead the engagement team in preparation for clients' audits as the main contact with external auditors.
  • Manage the preparation of our clients' 990 and tax forms and year-end preparation of their 1099's.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or other related field.
  • CPA or CPA candidate, MBA or MBA candidate, or candidate for other relevant certification.
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience in public accounting or at a non-profit organization preferred.
  • Proficient with various accounting software programs, including QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, Solomon, and Great Plains.
  • Proficient in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to conduct analytical reviews and exhibit an understanding of complex accounting theory.
  • A deep understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills and proactive initiative.
  • Professionalism and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to work in a matrixed environment.
  • Ability to keep up to date with industry trends and technology developments.
