Lead Data Engineer

Manulife, a leading international financial services provider, is seeking an experienced Lead Data Engineer to join its team. As a key member of the data engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and ETL processes to support analytics and reporting needs.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and mentor a team of data engineers, providing technical guidance and fostering professional growth.
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes to support data warehousing and analytics.
  • Collaborate with project managers, stakeholders, and IT teams to align data strategies, ensuring reliable and efficient data infrastructure.
  • Ensure data quality and integrity through rigorous testing and validation, optimizing processes for performance and cost-effectiveness.
  • Stay updated on emerging data technologies and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance data engineering capabilities.
Requirements:
  • 3-5 years of experience in data engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in a lead or mentoring role; strong experience with ETL tools and data pipeline frameworks (e.g., Apache Airflow, Apache Spark).
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master's degree is a plus).
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala; hands-on experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and data warehousing solutions (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery).
  • Solid understanding of SQL and database management systems.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
