Medical Billing Expertise

The Medical Billing Specialist plays a pivotal role in our organization. This position entails overseeing medical claims, investigating rejections and denials, and documenting account activities. The Biller posts adjustments and manages collections from various payers, including Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance, and Workers' Compensation. A thorough understanding of eligibility requirements and payment methodologies is essential.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Verify patient coverage for accurate billing purposes.
  2. Submit claims in a timely and compliant manner to ensure smooth processing.
  3. Obtain prior authorizations for seamless claim approvals.
  4. Monitor claim status and conduct follow-up to guarantee prompt payment.
  5. Research and resolve claim rejections and denials to prevent future occurrences.
  6. Generate and submit patient statements without requiring direct interaction with patients.
  7. Document all account activities accurately and on schedule.
  8. Post payments, apply adjustments, and manage collections from diverse payers.
  9. Understand and apply Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance eligibility requirements and payment methodologies effectively.
  10. Record contractual adjustments based on payer contracts and relevant government regulations.
  11. Maintain knowledge of changes in billing and coding guidelines, payer contracts, and government regulations to stay updated.
  12. Collaborate with team members and healthcare providers to foster a positive and productive work environment.
Necessary Qualifications
  1. At least 2 years of experience in end-to-end revenue cycle processes, encompassing eligibility verification, charge review, claims submission, AR follow-up, denial management, collections, prior authorizations, payment posting, and medical records requests.
  2. Prior experience in DME and the use of Apero is highly desirable.
  3. Demonstrate ability to work collaboratively with team members and healthcare providers in a fast-paced work environment.
  4. Showcase excellent customer service skills and handle occasional pressure effectively.
