Job Title: Social Rehabilitation Specialist

The position of Social Rehabilitation Specialist plays a crucial role in the rehabilitation and reintegration of individuals subject to community-based orders. The successful applicant will be responsible for providing case management services, focusing on safety, risk assessment, and rehabilitation.

In this capacity, the Social Rehabilitation Specialist will operate in accordance with assessed risk and need, maintaining high standards of assessment practices that facilitate effective supervision and improve reintegration and rehabilitation outcomes for individuals under community-based orders.

The role also involves consulting with relevant Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and organisations to support culturally informed practices and address Indigenous over-representation in the criminal justice system.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive case management services to adults subject to community orders, prioritising safety and rehabilitation.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and develop tailored rehabilitation plans to promote positive outcomes.
  • Foster strong relationships with local communities and stakeholders to enhance cultural awareness and cooperation.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Possession of a valid driver's licence (minimum C class Australian licence) is mandatory due to travel requirements across various locations.
  • The ability to work flexible hours and travel to other locations as needed.
  • Completion of Certificate IV in Correctional Practice (Community) within 12 months of commencing employment, with certification achieved within 18 months.
