Virtual Psychiatrist Billing Specialist

A Medical Coding Specialist is needed to accurately and efficiently code medical diagnoses and procedures for a psychiatry practice.
This role involves assigning accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes to patient diagnoses and procedures based on clinical documentation within electronic health records (EHR). The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical coding principles and practices, including ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
The key responsibilities of this position include:
- Assigning accurate codes to patient diagnoses and procedures based on clinical documentation within EHR.
- Applying knowledge of psychiatric diagnoses and treatments to ensure appropriate code selection.
- Reviewing and analyzing physician/therapist notes and other medical documentation to determine accurate coding.
The requirements for this position include a minimum of 2 years of experience in medical coding, preferably in a psychiatry or mental health setting. Additionally, the candidate must have a strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems, as well as proficiency in using EHR and medical billing software.
This position also requires excellent attention to detail and accuracy, as well as strong analytical and problem-solving skills. The candidate should be able to work independently and communicate effectively with physicians, therapists, and other staff regarding coding issues.
Coding Compliance:
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines, regulations, and payer requirements.
- Ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality.
Billing and Revenue Cycle:
- Working closely with billing staff to resolve coding-related claim denials and rejections.
- Assisting in the development and implementation of coding policies and procedures.
EHR Management:
- Utilizing EHR systems to access and update patient medical records.
- Being proficient in the use of electronic billing systems.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical coding, preferably in a psychiatry or mental health setting.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Proficiency in using EHR and medical billing software.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Charm EHR.
- Knowledge of common mental health medications.
- Experience with prior authorizations for mental health services.
