Job Description

The General Accountant is a critical role within the finance team, responsible for managing day-to-day transactional finance processes.

This is a hands-on position ideal for someone with a strong background in finance operations and a proactive attitude.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage accounts payable, ensuring accurate processing of supplier invoices, credit cards, and employee expenses in NetSuite.
  • Raise purchase orders upon request and ensure alignment with financial records.
  • Prepare weekly payment runs for review and processing.
  • Manage accounts receivable and credit control, sending sales invoices, tracking payment status, and following up with debtors as needed.
  • Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure transactional integrity.
  • Support the preparation and filing of VAT returns in compliance with UK tax standards.
  • Assist in month-end tasks, including accruals, prepayments, fixed asset register maintenance, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Collate and prepare year-end data and support audit documentation requests.
RequirementsWhat We're Looking For
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in accountancy, finance, or a related field.
  • Three to five years of hands-on experience within a finance function.
  • Experience in UK GAAP and IFRS is highly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of accounting principles and month-end/year-end processes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with NetSuite is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive, self-starter attitude with the ability to work independently.
