The key responsibilities of this role include:

Bookkeeping & Payroll Management

  • Process and record financial transactions using XERO and other accounting software.
  • Prepare accurate financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Perform regular bank reconciliations and maintain accurate records.
  • Complete and submit BAS returns on a timely basis.
  • Verify the accuracy of financial records and report any discrepancies to the Accountant.
  • Develop and maintain effective internal controls to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.

Payroll Administration

  • Maintain accurate payroll records, including employee details, salaries, and benefits.
  • Generate and process payroll files for clients.
  • Update payroll records to reflect changes in employee information or benefits.
  • Prepare detailed reports on payroll-related matters, including earnings, tax deductions, and leave entitlements.
  • Calculate and manage payroll liabilities, including employee taxes, superannuation, and workers' compensation.
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies and address any employee queries.

System Experience

  • Xero and other cloud-based payroll systems.

Key Skills

  • Strong accounting and bookkeeping knowledge.
  • Experience with Australian taxation laws and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
