Job Title: Risk Management Expert

The role of Risk Management Expert involves leading the implementation and delivery of comprehensive risk services to support various commissions. This includes providing line management leadership and guidance for others within the PMO and planning centre of excellence, as well as other hubs and centres of excellence within the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for the risk management performance on assigned commission(s).
  • Creates/designs effective risk management framework(s)/strategy(s) tailored to specific projects and programs.
  • Manages and directs clients, consultants, contractors, project team on all risk management matters.
  • Acts as a trusted advisor to client organizations, building strong professional relationships.
  • Leads and directs the delivery of Quantitative Risk Analysis (cost and time), ensuring accuracy and reliability of results.
  • Advises on contingency adequacy as part of regular reporting cycles.
  • Ensures that all activities/operations are carried out in line with organizational control centre requirements, prevailing legislation, and client needs.
  • Provides line management to junior risk managers and other project/programme staff, promoting their personal and career development.
  • Innovates and aligns with industry best practices to ensure continued service excellence.
  • Leads high-performing risk teams on assigned commissions, driving collaboration and effectiveness.
  • Supports the Hub Risk Lead with resourcing and recruitment for assigned commissions.

Requirements:

  • At least 10 years' experience or equivalent as a risk management leader delivering range of project risk management services on major construction programmes.
  • Strong understanding of construction projects, processes, and interfaces within the project lifecycle.
  • Deep domain knowledge of providing risk leadership in multiple sectors, such as rail, highways, nuclear, public sector, hospitals.
  • Significant experience of effective risk leadership on significant construction projects.
  • Significant experience of setting up effective risk management/assurance frameworks/strategies.
  • Expert knowledge of risk tools, techniques, and software (e.g., Active Risk Manager, RiskHive, @Risk, Primavera Risk Analyser).
  • Ability to manage activities with significant uncertainty of solution or outcome.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of planning tools (e.g. Programme P6, Astra, MS project).
  • Practical knowledge of Power BI and other reporting suite tools.
