Job Description:

The Unemployment Specialist plays a vital role in our organization, responsible for reviewing unemployment claims and responding to state documents. This position involves analyzing case information to determine if a response is warranted and interpreting and applying state laws and regulations to employee separations when responding to unemployment documents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be reliably onsite at our Omaha, NE office at least one day per week, with additional onsite requirements as needed based on business needs.
  • Receive, review, and prioritize unemployment claims, questionnaires, and related documents.
  • Analyze case information to determine if a response is warranted.
  • Interpret and apply state laws and regulations to employee separations when responding to unemployment documents.
  • Submit accurate and timely responses to state agencies.
  • Escalate complex claims to the Supervisor, Human Resources, or Legal Team as necessary.
  • Ensure all inquiries and requests are addressed promptly and professionally.
  • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy in claim reviews.
  • Work overtime as needed to meet state response deadlines.
  • Process verification of employment requests for internal and traveler employees.
  • Identify and provide the appropriate information for employment verification requests in accordance with company policies.
  • Maintain relationships with verification of employment vendors to ensure timely processing.
  • Collaborate with other teams to keep them informed on the status of verification requests.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must be located in Omaha, NE, or the surrounding area.
  • Previous experience handling unemployment claims is preferred. Alternatively, at least two years of office experience with a focus on decision-making or two years of customer service experience and/or training.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • High ethical standards with a strong commitment to confidentiality.
  • Ability to manage a high work volume and meet deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to follow policies and procedures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
