Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Digital Storyteller to create engaging news-focused short-form videos and written content across various social media platforms.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and produce high-quality, social-first news content for TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube, including short news recaps, stitched videos, explainers, fact-checks, and commentary.
  • Conduct thorough research on trending topics and fact-check information to ensure accuracy and credibility in our content.
  • Create compelling narratives that resonate with audiences, scripting and framing angles for news stories that drive engagement.
  • Write captivating captions, headlines, and hooks optimized for different platforms to reach a wider audience.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest social media trends and viral content formats to maintain relevance and competitiveness in our content strategy.
  • Transform editorial articles into concise, engaging video content tailored to each platform's best practices.
  • Analyze video performance metrics to refine our content strategy and improve engagement.
  • Respond promptly to comments and messages to build and maintain strong connections with our audience.
  • Collaborate closely with the editorial team to align content with our organization's editorial tone and mission.
Requirements:
  • Degree in Mass Communications, Journalism, Media Studies, or related field preferred.
  • Prior experience in content creation, social media management, or digital journalism is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms, their audiences, and content trends (TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, Facebook).
  • Proficiency in video editing and design software (Capcut, Canva, or equivalent).
  • Strong analytical skills to research and analyze news and factual information, with ability to fact-check and distill insights into clear, audience-friendly stories.
  • Comfortable crafting concise, impactful narratives that bring news and facts to life in social-first video formats.
  • Keen sense of storytelling, pacing, and visual composition with interest in current affairs, news, and social issues.
  • Creative thinker with a strong sense of what resonates with digital audiences.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with creative teams.
  • A portfolio/reel showcasing editing skills and social-first video content is required.
