Pet Circle aims to create a data-driven culture that enables informed decision making across the business. To achieve this goal, we are seeking an experienced Data Analytics Engineer who will play a key role in designing and implementing our data environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for building out our data infrastructure, developing data feeds, transforming data into actionable models, and ensuring high availability and reliability within the business. The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in using data to drive business outcomes and work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Data Ingestion: Write feeds to collect data from external systems and ensure seamless integration with our data warehouse.
  • Data Transformation: Develop transforms to process data into more information-rich data models, enabling business users to make data-driven decisions.
  • Monitoring and Maintenance: Ensure data assets are automatically monitored for performance, reliability, and availability, and perform maintenance tasks to handle changing environments.
  • Advanced Analysis: Create one-off or recurring data sets for statistical or advanced analysis, providing insights to support business growth.
  • Documentation and Communication: Document processes and data structures so that they are maintainable and usable by others, and effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Visualization and Reporting: Create visualisations and interactive reports to facilitate business user understanding and adoption of data-driven insights.
  • Security and Governance: Perform basic security and privacy management to ensure data integrity and compliance.
  • Team Collaboration: Participate in team roster to support business users using our data and platform, and collaborate with other teams in scrums, ideation sessions, and various formats to realise the value of Data across different parts of the business.
Requirements:
  • Experience: 2-5+ years experience in data engineering or analytics engineering.
  • Technical Skills: Extensive experience and expertise in SQL and Python, as well as experience modelling data and creating transformation pipelines with Dataform or DBT.
  • CLOUD-BASED DATA WAREHOUSES: Experience working with cloud-based data warehouses (Redshift, BigQuery, Snowflake, Databricks, etc).
  • Collaboration and Communication: Demonstrated experience in collaborating and supporting non-technical users, as well as being autonomous, reliable, and having great communication skills.
  • Remote Work: Comfortable working with remote and distributed teams.
