Chief Accounting Officer Job Description

This highly strategic Chief Accounting Officer will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, driving structure, internal controls and financial processes to ensure accuracy, compliance and scalability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, month-end close, general ledger management, tax filings and audit preparation.
  • Ensure financial statements are prepared in compliance with US GAAP standards.
  • Design, implement and improve internal controls, accounting systems and financial processes.
  • Manage and mentor a high-performing accounting team; ensure clear delegation, performance tracking and professional development.
  • Lead audit preparation and execution, liaising with external auditors and internal stakeholders.
  • Drive process improvements and standardization across the finance function.
  • Monitor and manage working capital needs, particularly in high-volume environments.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.
  • Serve as a strategic thought partner to senior leadership, contributing insights for budgeting, forecasting and long-term planning.
