Job Title: Project Manager for Embedded Systems

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced project manager to lead our team in managing the delivery of Ubuntu images on embedded devices. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management, excellent communication skills, and experience working with cross-cultural teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage projects through their complete life cycle and ensure that overall goals are met
  • Schedule and deliver engineering professional services for assigned projects
  • Work with engineering teams to deliver Ubuntu images to customers
  • Assist in the development of project statements of work
  • Develop project-specific schedules and plans
  • Obtain client agreement to project schedules and work items
  • Ensure projects are delivered within time, resources, and scope expectations
  • Manage project risk mitigation and plans
  • Drive technical issues to reach desired delivery outcomes
  • Communicate daily and weekly with clients and internal stakeholders
  • Manage the delivery schedule of critical third-party deliverables for the project
  • Keep management informed of project status
  • Identify custom engineering requests not part of existing business contracts
  • Advocate for appropriate technologies from Canonical's product portfolio to customers
  • Support different time zones and work non-traditional hours as required

Requirements:

  • Strong project management experience delivering engineering services to customers
  • Extensive experience managing projects with cross-cultural and multi-continent internal and external project resources
  • Educational degree preferably in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math
  • Good knowledge of Linux and Open Source Software community
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, in English
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills
  • PMP/PMI or PRINCE2 Practitioner Certification preferred
  • Ability to work non-standard hours in support of a worldwide sales and project team
  • Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events
